I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how it looks hanging in my kitchen!<br /><br />To make this craft you will need:<br /><ul><li>Yellow paint</li><li>Large sheet of paper (I actually glued several pieces to a large cardboard piece I had)</li><li>1 mommy (or daddy) hand (or be creative and do both!!!)</li><li>kids hands</li><li>crayons/markers<br /></li></ul>Now, first think it out and make sure all of your ducks are facing the same way. We did ours with the right hand.<br /><br />Start with your biggest duck first. It is easier to squeeze in smaller "ducks" not so easy to squeeze in bigger ducks.<br /><br />Stamp your hand down and clean yourself up. Now, take your eldest duck and paint their SAME side hand as you did. Stamp them close to you, but leave a bit of room. Keep going until you have all of your ducks in a row! :)<br /><br />Once the paint is dry add a few finishing touches like webbed feet and and bills and eyes. I also put our names under the ducks. And, I jazzed it up with some construction paper grass layers.<br /><br />I think it needs a ribbon frame around it, but other than that I LOVE it.Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-29056224231900464112011-04-06T17:05:00.005-04:002011-04-07T17:32:42.806-04:00Mommy Crafts A....<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLpynS79dBLq8B4K-m2wGpljXqQXI0lmfJykfmAOpVzxI0o7GBPA0OLG8lsctRQz03gjd-75G4cyD1WGdXG5l1A-RgB_YCNllyiy2_4eJ-RsJD4bhZy3QgIEY1u1GBc5JO879VDTyR1NM/s1600/Easter+Bunny+Plate.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLpynS79dBLq8B4K-m2wGpljXqQXI0lmfJykfmAOpVzxI0o7GBPA0OLG8lsctRQz03gjd-75G4cyD1WGdXG5l1A-RgB_YCNllyiy2_4eJ-RsJD4bhZy3QgIEY1u1GBc5JO879VDTyR1NM/s400/Easter+Bunny+Plate.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592957031450159698" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size:130%;">Easter Bunny Plate</span><br /><br />My paint markers have been one of the BEST investments I have ever made. Now tie a rubber band around the top. Mentally divide your sock into thirds and place another rubber band around the top 1/3 of your soon to be bunny.<br /><br />Now you have made his/her head.<br /><br />You want to cut the duff of your sock in half and kind of round out the tops to look like bunny ears.<br /><br />From here you just dress him/her up. Add a pretty ribbon and the eyes, nose and mouth. I used felt pieces for the eyes and nose, and used a thin marking pen to make the the mouth. They look very happy on top of my tv.<br /><br />Oh, and my rubber bands were not white, so I used a little white-out to cover them up. You could of course use a little paint.Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-1941424205396924352011-04-04T16:06:00.003-04:002011-04-07T17:35:40.054-04:00Paper Hatching Chicks<div style="text-align: right;"><span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);">Toddler</span>, <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Pre-K</span>, <span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 153);">K</span><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmLGQjPwktE4B-2lGMFoVuDx74fTBrThWlfwi4SVTz_2PpUJDjhUC3Al1CSylvShCOLWF2lwse3jDIy_tSPuUjB7tsIkGzfsOeI4X9nJatrfmyJLBQgXFpMuQo4N9XYFJ76FF63MGDDpQ/s1600/Peek+A+Boo+Egg+1.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmLGQjPwktE4B-2lGMFoVuDx74fTBrThWlfwi4SVTz_2PpUJDjhUC3Al1CSylvShCOLWF2lwse3jDIy_tSPuUjB7tsIkGzfsOeI4X9nJatrfmyJLBQgXFpMuQo4N9XYFJ76FF63MGDDpQ/s200/Peek+A+Boo+Egg+1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592958091565060546" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMg2fumvgKAJEUrgrj9ETgW62yYY4C4W9UQy1YPTK04pOUMUcNNidoExQ-c6EQaZWe7sh9ERoXWL3Y6km6lnlDw0-JdObWM9eKgIH8g5f7n255hTe0O1RgpLrl3EzxgF-9HvmMRTZkNtY/s1600/Peek+A+Boo+Egg+2.jpg"><img style="float: right; margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMg2fumvgKAJEUrgrj9ETgW62yYY4C4W9UQy1YPTK04pOUMUcNNidoExQ-c6EQaZWe7sh9ERoXWL3Y6km6lnlDw0-JdObWM9eKgIH8g5f7n255hTe0O1RgpLrl3EzxgF-9HvmMRTZkNtY/s200/Peek+A+Boo+Egg+2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592958146095528930" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />This one I thought of myself--and I love how it came out! You cut the shapes and your toddler can do (almost) the rest. If you are working on cutting practice with your preschooler or kindergartner, draw the shapes and have them cut them out.<br /><br />To make this craft you will need:<br /><ul><li>white heavy paper (or glue stick white paper to cardboard)</li><li>yellow construction paper</li><li>brass brad</li><li>scissors</li><li>glue stick</li><li>stickers (optional)</li><li>crayons</li><li>hole punch<br /></li></ul>First cut out (or draw and have your older child cut out) an oval from your white paper. You can use construction paper, but it won't be as sturdy, so be aware it may come apart after a few fun games of "peek-a-boo."<br /><br />Now, cut out (or draw) a chick head from your yellow construction paper. I just free handed basically a rectangle with a rounded end. You want it to be long, because some will be glued to the egg that won't be shown.<br /><br />Have your child decorate the egg any way they want. We used stickers and crayons. Now let your child work on his or her chicken. I cut out pieces from construction paper, but they could color the face or however they want it.<br /><br />While they are coloring the chick, cut a jagged line all the way across the top 1/3 of their finished egg. Punch a hole in the top left hand corner of the largest half of the egg, and the bottom left corner of the small piece of egg. You want to line these up and put the brad through it so it can open and close.<br /><br />Glue stick your child's chick to the bottom of the egg and let it dry for a moment (if you get them to wait that long).<br /><br />Now, play peek-a-boo with you new "peep-peep!"Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-26197481370685627092011-03-24T20:51:00.004-04:002011-03-24T20:58:17.499-04:00Mommy Crafts A....<div style="text-align: center;">Time Out Mat<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPNaKx4t3AeL5aj8J59vHJsd4qlJDkxP3rzFAkPgXDp4K3zS1_2RYPOsOl20m37EMI-Y-p8wsf96tHyCOUv5HpDdPKBwz1v0wXImUrL_8cYl7aGs3J2PfulzyeFG2NPXcgznujH5qC5sM/s1600/Thomas%2527+Time+Out+Mat.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPNaKx4t3AeL5aj8J59vHJsd4qlJDkxP3rzFAkPgXDp4K3zS1_2RYPOsOl20m37EMI-Y-p8wsf96tHyCOUv5HpDdPKBwz1v0wXImUrL_8cYl7aGs3J2PfulzyeFG2NPXcgznujH5qC5sM/s400/Thomas%2527+Time+Out+Mat.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5587815317209687698" border="0" /></a><br /><br /></div>I found the idea for the mat on one of my craft blogs, and they used a dollar store mat and fabric paint to paint the words "Time Out."<br /><br />I love the idea of a mat, because you can take it with you. We have a 2-level house, and while having the same spot is a great idea, that can be tricky with a tantrum-ed toddler. So, the idea of having a portable "spot" sounds great to me. But, the idea of a plain old mat didn't (you know me).<br /><br />So, hey, I have all of these left over spit rags (cloth diapers) sitting around, and they are the perfect size for a two yer old tooshy. And, my mother gave me a fabric clock years ago that she found somewhere, that you stuff and sew to help kids learn time. Perfect!<br /><br />Now, if you are thinking that I wasted the time telling clock, you are wrong. What is perfect is I can hang this up after the "time out years" and we can use it as a clock. I simply glued the felt piece that says "Time Out Thomas" on it to the clock as well as the felt hand pointing to the 2 (you should give your child one minute in time out per year he/she is old), but I didn't heat set it--so it will come off with a wash in the machine.Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-67309987164582293622011-03-17T20:50:00.002-04:002011-03-25T10:59:10.468-04:00Mommy Crafts A....<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQLv7SvsuA1sqOozvXMzjN9Baq02bcxfQF1PQr4frXAhy4URU8sRY9QBOtJBcURseN3DKVxyV4NwMk3528G8SZSGRHWjaQQ_RT4ZIP4eQk6CvXT17BGnXs4SlXIzh_Px43Xn5v-XkgA-I/s1600/Thomas+Vest+%2526+Bow+Tie.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQLv7SvsuA1sqOozvXMzjN9Baq02bcxfQF1PQr4frXAhy4URU8sRY9QBOtJBcURseN3DKVxyV4NwMk3528G8SZSGRHWjaQQ_RT4ZIP4eQk6CvXT17BGnXs4SlXIzh_Px43Xn5v-XkgA-I/s320/Thomas+Vest+%2526+Bow+Tie.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5588031002815507170" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpUaN9oZNGn7IZnv1E3fq029ysp7dPLMHXf40V48bK2rjXJHIbU4XM9oZAKFZKzS8tUvVFAvpc2wjM2bLkJUfKmAy8wCyrg6zhliKFSyAC_BiT6C53pFFFJdsZ4OS2PK1qK1FBe_G9tqY/s1600/Leprachaun+2.jpg"><br /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Green Vest & Bow Tie<br /><br />I used a vest that currently fits Thomas to make a pattern for this one. He already knows 1, 2...3! Because it usually means something fun afterward. So, I came up with this idea, and he has been playing with it for days!!<br /><br />To make this counting craft you will need:<br /><ul><li>Pot of Gold pattern</li><li>Black marker</li><li>Gold coins (so MUCH easier)</li><li>or make your own coins:<br /></li><li>Cardboard</li><li>Glue stick</li><li>Gold paper (I used a gold gift bag from the 1$ store)</li></ul>You can find many pot of gold patterns online, pick on you like and print it out. Trace your coins on the pot. I did 10 of them to learn to count to 10. My idea was to hide the coins and let him find them, but he saw what I was making and couldn't wait.<br /><br />We would place the coins on top of the drawn coins on the pot and count.<br /><br />Now, in hindsight, I shouldn't have numbered the coins I made (I just cut circles from cardboard and glued on the gold paper). Just number the paper circles. It is less confusing.<br /><br />And, his favorite part about the idea was that I found a wooden box in the $1 store as well, and this was his treasure box. He LOVED keeping them in there and opening and closing the box and taking out his treasure. And the lesson worked so well! He really is counting out the numbers (not in order yet, but still he is getting there!)Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-481220405607030152011-03-17T20:19:00.002-04:002011-03-24T20:24:49.199-04:00Leprechaun Treat<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP7e9H4MVCtXExAnYZMK2iEPGyx8L0vYK-p3U9GqfIxPcoTP9b0p6_PuuE3m_1hSiRxHCCi2MAnT1ldvrDcOBe6wbRCGdJuZEqJ3zUTMGqkNCBzATmwKP2RgvcrWl5WjS6r90MsTK9uz4/s1600/Leprachaun+Jello.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP7e9H4MVCtXExAnYZMK2iEPGyx8L0vYK-p3U9GqfIxPcoTP9b0p6_PuuE3m_1hSiRxHCCi2MAnT1ldvrDcOBe6wbRCGdJuZEqJ3zUTMGqkNCBzATmwKP2RgvcrWl5WjS6r90MsTK9uz4/s320/Leprachaun+Jello.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5587806935447549682" border="0" /></a><br />I am posting this idea first, so you will give yourself more time to make it than I did! I found <a href="http://the-wilson-world.blogspot.com/2011/03/leprechaun-jello.html">the idea online,</a> and we loved it! Yum, Yum!!<br /><br />To make this snack you will need:<br /><ul><li>Several HOURS!</li><li>3 cups of boiling water</li><li>1 big box of Lime Jello</li><li>1 16 oz. tub of Cool Whip</li></ul>Mix the Lime Jello powder with the boiling water for 2 minutes or until completely dissolved. Add the Cool Whip to the bowl. Stir until all the Cool Whip melts into the warm Jello mixture. Carefully pour the Jello into glass containers. This makes approximately 10 servings 1/2 cup each. Refrigerate the mixture for about 8 hours until set. Top with a little Cool Whip.Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-71150598102225114852011-03-17T20:17:00.001-04:002011-03-24T20:19:21.073-04:00St. Patrick's Day Fun<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6MkVzvKBYuZjt2GPXqlJ2hbMesGE7CxTkvfiP0DJdfwie7AuIKfN_CaLjeamdYrOBCjf4QK2N9HSv1RTzIJGXFhqrxLIRk1tN8aLCWI4q0GNGsmjRh5D9wEuJi3KbSUyuPj3oJ_w8iIc/s1600/hug-club-clip-art-085.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 269px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6MkVzvKBYuZjt2GPXqlJ2hbMesGE7CxTkvfiP0DJdfwie7AuIKfN_CaLjeamdYrOBCjf4QK2N9HSv1RTzIJGXFhqrxLIRk1tN8aLCWI4q0GNGsmjRh5D9wEuJi3KbSUyuPj3oJ_w8iIc/s320/hug-club-clip-art-085.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5587805407221387714" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 102, 0);">GREEN</span> fun for all! I made it for an after-school snack, but you could have it for desert after dinner if you'd rather.<br /><br />To make this snack you will need:<br /><ul><li>vanilla ice cream</li><li>plastic cups</li><li>sharpie marker</li><li>vanilla wafers</li><li>strawberry slices</li><li>cool whip</li></ul>Now, the <a href="http://thehokeypokeykitchen.com/fruit/the-cat-in-the-hat-by-dr-seuss.html">original recipe</a> called for milk, but I thought it would make the cookies soggy, so I went with vanilla ice cream.<br /><br />First, I drew a Cat In The Hat face on my recycled plastic cups. And, added a red bow tie. I printed off a picture of the cat and stuck it inside the empty cup and traced the outlines on the outside of the cup.<br /><br />Any how, I filled my plastic cups (saved from apple sauce lunch sized containers) with 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream. Then I dipped my vanilla wafers in the cool whip covering them as best I could one at a time. Put the first cookie on top of the ice cream. Now put a strawberry slice on top. Now, another cool whip covered cookie. You get the idea. Make it as tall as you want--but be careful, it will get unsteady after a while. You want to end your pattern with a cookie.<br /><br />Keep it in the freezer until your kids are ready to eat it. But, don't make it too early (like the day before) because it will freeze everything and your kids will have a hard time eating it.Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-47450531745998667812011-03-02T12:58:00.001-05:002011-03-24T19:04:58.514-04:00Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcaO3B6nv77130dEkGZryiEHDgD9cmKTB2yw5gYTf7g528Up_LRmPqt8dppwHYOArHTcbPuWy6yOpzsE5qVyceM7TJyMhFLzWcRUE5Vw5zD6xgDeJssycyO2NOubCaR4s3uBxLdI2HblE/s1600/tumblr_lhfxcaRE4h1qbjk2jo1_500.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 327px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcaO3B6nv77130dEkGZryiEHDgD9cmKTB2yw5gYTf7g528Up_LRmPqt8dppwHYOArHTcbPuWy6yOpzsE5qVyceM7TJyMhFLzWcRUE5Vw5zD6xgDeJssycyO2NOubCaR4s3uBxLdI2HblE/s400/tumblr_lhfxcaRE4h1qbjk2jo1_500.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5587786242956731202" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Join us for all sorts of Seussical Fun today on Dr. Seuss' Birthday!<br /></div>Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-49287835690567003802011-02-14T22:14:00.004-05:002011-02-15T09:58:24.404-05:00Valentine's Hand Print Craft<div style="text-align: right;"><span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);">Toddler</span>, <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Pre-K</span>, <span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 153);">K</span><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5HdN1gY7P3KRs_wuKlc2YYUhA00h_zYW8umbA5oJGPjrBNIc8tFWOfuVowrO7wdlLbmfsT_eVwkuHirkDmMIYr1i0X74qmcMjkWU5-roUH7y902YeP82b_9ForhppA6mJ8pLE0EneEys/s1600/Heart+Hand+Print+For+Valentine%2527s+Day.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 258px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5HdN1gY7P3KRs_wuKlc2YYUhA00h_zYW8umbA5oJGPjrBNIc8tFWOfuVowrO7wdlLbmfsT_eVwkuHirkDmMIYr1i0X74qmcMjkWU5-roUH7y902YeP82b_9ForhppA6mJ8pLE0EneEys/s320/Heart+Hand+Print+For+Valentine%2527s+Day.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573930687715940786" border="0" /></a><br />Isn't this the sweetest! Clean that hand up and paint the other one. Turn the paper so it is easier for you and your child. Line up the fingers with the last set and turn their hand to an angle. Simple heart!<br /><br />I added a heart outline to mine since his hands are so small and it may not have been apparent that it was a heart. And, I love to add simple rhymes to the paper as well.<br /><br />Happy Valentine's Day!<br /><br />**Don't forget that date at the bottom!!**Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-72549406411014149212011-02-13T23:21:00.001-05:002011-02-14T08:47:06.294-05:00Candy Airplanes<div style="text-align: right;">Mommy Craft<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGVNcaUtzS1Rj1m4EWous6Fgp69NWinSrfk-DJc5z8MmvaHsknN0V0dpfdJ_jGwfAsJIkzw2rPmCg8FiCJhnmAy4xKOzIyWIIThFaNy4DmPMm7i8-EEA94Tgl6HeBcYOpiOBHX063OmRo/s1600/Candy+Airplanes.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGVNcaUtzS1Rj1m4EWous6Fgp69NWinSrfk-DJc5z8MmvaHsknN0V0dpfdJ_jGwfAsJIkzw2rPmCg8FiCJhnmAy4xKOzIyWIIThFaNy4DmPMm7i8-EEA94Tgl6HeBcYOpiOBHX063OmRo/s320/Candy+Airplanes.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573536849766882610" border="0" /></a><br />It was a late night as I finished these up for Gracie's first grade classroom tomorrow--but they were so worth it! I am thrilled at how darling they came out.<br /><br />This idea was a <a href="http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/candy-airplane-662757/">Family Fun idea</a>, and was pretty simple to put together.<br /><br />To make this craft you will need:<br /><ul><li>Smarties candy</li><li>Lifesavers candy (of any kind)</li><li>sticks of gum (any kind/flavor)</li><li>Small-Med sized rubber bands</li></ul>I got the assorted bag of rubber bands from Walmart for $.98 and found plenty of the perfect size.<br /><br />First, unwrap your lifesavers. Leave everything else in their packages! Pick two lifesavers, these are your wheels. Thread the rubber band through both wheels. Hang on to the ends--don't let go. Now, carefully place a Smarties candy in between the "wheels" and on top of the rubber band. You haven't let go of the ends have you?! Now, open the end of one rubber band and slip through on end of your piece of gum Once that is secure, stretch the other loop of rubber band over the other end of the gum.<br /><br />Ta da! The rubber band is a bit tricky, but you will get the hang of it in no time.<br /><br />I actually found this idea on one of my craft blogs after <a href="http://www.giverslog.com/">GiversLog</a> offered a free printable to go at the end of the airplanes. These totally make for the complete package!<br /><br />You can find the <a href="http://www.giverslog.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2010/10/valentine-banner-tag.pdf">free printable here</a>.Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-692456761046314472011-02-11T16:32:00.003-05:002011-02-11T16:38:10.441-05:00Heart Animals<div style="text-align: right;"><span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);">Toddler</span>, <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Pre-K</span>, <span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 153);">K, <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">6+</span><br /></span></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Dv8Cdz2Pj7IWKg9UZGaPp2ywmii5VlHbqYu4VcLhha46MdxYvbQet8Sn6r3tNcBb3m4rDJGrEaUUrvnqdDfXo0JU-jzy2FSdOuC5o6WECFMQqLaLnjfotsDaG2m-ERAUXJ6reHA61Eo/s1600/Snail+Heart+Craft.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 252px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Dv8Cdz2Pj7IWKg9UZGaPp2ywmii5VlHbqYu4VcLhha46MdxYvbQet8Sn6r3tNcBb3m4rDJGrEaUUrvnqdDfXo0JU-jzy2FSdOuC5o6WECFMQqLaLnjfotsDaG2m-ERAUXJ6reHA61Eo/s320/Snail+Heart+Craft.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572549262732903890" border="0" /></a><br />Now that I just told you about <a href="http://www.dltk-kids.com/">DLTK kids</a>, you will see all the fun heart animals you can make!<br /><br />There are plenty of boy-friendly ones including a snake, dog and this too cute snail!!<br /><br />Follow <a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/crafts-animals.htm">the link</a> and the instructions to make your heart-animal!<br /><br />Boy-Friendly Animals:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mheartchameleon.htm">Chameleon</a><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mheartcow.htm">Cow</a><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mheartcrab.htm">Crab</a><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mdog.htm">Dog</a><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mheartfrog.htm">Frog</a><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mmonkey.htm">Monkey</a><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mheartsnail.htm">Snail</a><br /><a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mhearttriceratops.htm">Dinosaur</a>Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-36541308948871462532011-02-11T16:12:00.004-05:002011-02-11T16:37:52.742-05:00Squeeze Me!<div style="text-align: right;"><span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);">Toddler</span>, <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Pre-K</span>, <span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 153);">K</span></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmPNuL6fbB9l8hlIj68ic1mAjTruy-j636Wo1kTDDRIipR-2LVVO72e8NmV1ZdnkjrElvoHVUxygHnmcwyHzRxvPfANakY_VA1loAVfgnlE-l1HRx1Xhyphenhyphens3juFTIZt4rxTzNfP4BGjg7o/s1600/Octopus+Valentine.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmPNuL6fbB9l8hlIj68ic1mAjTruy-j636Wo1kTDDRIipR-2LVVO72e8NmV1ZdnkjrElvoHVUxygHnmcwyHzRxvPfANakY_VA1loAVfgnlE-l1HRx1Xhyphenhyphens3juFTIZt4rxTzNfP4BGjg7o/s320/Octopus+Valentine.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572545393825948434" border="0" /></a><br /><img src="file:///C:/Users/Barbara/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-20.png" alt="" /><br />Most of us crafty stay at home moms know all about <a href="http://www.dltk-kids.com/">DLTK kids</a>, and if you don't go there now and check out all of their fun things!<br /><br />Well, they added a new Valentine craft this year--<a href="http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/mheartoctopus.htm">an octopus</a>! Another great boy friendly Valentine idea!<br /><br />Well, I love the idea, but I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of the octopus. So, I found my own. You are welcome to use it, or the one they have on their site.<br /><br />To make this craft you will need:<ul><li>Octopus printable (mine or theirs)</li><li>Crayons/markers</li><li>Construction paper (scrap will do fine, you just need a little)</li><li>Permanent marker</li><li>Glue stick</li></ul>If you print out my octopus, you will just need your child to color him/her. I put mine on a piece of blue construction paper to make it look like it was in the ocean--but that is optional. If you use their printout--you will need to assemble your octopus.<br /><br />Once you have assembled, or colored, cut out 8 small paper hearts. (If you use their template, it is provided in the printout). Write the letters I, L, O, V, E, Y, O, U--one on each heart. There are 8 letters to spell "I Love You" and the octopus has 8 tentacles.<br /><br />How cute!!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwlosT6k1N1zFsqb6Pi6H0c9e1fWgQUg8T8JRvbzG1LBanb3tcvq-wV_LLWlL2QQ9XyXU679NLLpaQn9iIe0DDHkZWE4YsUCFLSZwVafA12EYPG-MEe_qk8TP5QFAaXF3i7QiEP0OYAi0/s1600/Octopus+Valentine.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 247px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwlosT6k1N1zFsqb6Pi6H0c9e1fWgQUg8T8JRvbzG1LBanb3tcvq-wV_LLWlL2QQ9XyXU679NLLpaQn9iIe0DDHkZWE4YsUCFLSZwVafA12EYPG-MEe_qk8TP5QFAaXF3i7QiEP0OYAi0/s320/Octopus+Valentine.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572545147195907186" border="0" /></a>Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-8623032754879802302011-02-11T15:21:00.004-05:002011-02-11T15:37:32.936-05:00I Love "Ewe"<div style="text-align: right;"><span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);">Toddler</span>, <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Pre-K</span>, <span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 153);">K</span></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim4L6C02Lx2_ItJPcXi2B1nLpmnLAXTVF1YnoVzmLIw5AiYC1pj-ckLV-7AJs7h1B3UyL5y2B_nDUKPpK4xudIH956S60_8VLXWZBS78_Zy7xtrAn3-Cx-YyxQyddiGg03Hoowvh7f26E/s1600/I+Love+Ewe.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim4L6C02Lx2_ItJPcXi2B1nLpmnLAXTVF1YnoVzmLIw5AiYC1pj-ckLV-7AJs7h1B3UyL5y2B_nDUKPpK4xudIH956S60_8VLXWZBS78_Zy7xtrAn3-Cx-YyxQyddiGg03Hoowvh7f26E/s320/I+Love+Ewe.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572533659068184834" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://mykidsmake.com/2011/01/create/i-love-ewe-cards/">This was such a darling idea!</a> And boy friendly too! Plus, mommy is missing her Strasburg Ram home so much--it fit in perfectly.<br /><br />Now, my toddler was too young to make this by himself, and I am all for printable as a base. So, I found a site that let me use a clip art image of a sheep and add my own text! how cool is that.<br /><br />To make this craft you will need:<br /><ul><li>Printable</li><li>Crayons/markers</li><li>Cotton Balls</li><li>White glue (do not try to use glue stick!)</li></ul>I had my toddler color his page first, and then we added the glue (he helped--a lot!). I started with whole cotton balls, but quickly realized they were too big. So, I pulled the cotton apart in sections and it came out just as cute and fleecy.<br /><br />Click to enlarge the printable and save or print or however you best do it.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAWtRS5NGu7rO53Ve3wFzWrYgnTcaS9Z82O975pRTjtEexo8jFcUUHjqyt-_wRbF641YNFT7h3qcMqFPJjPwvw8WHFK1Ea6FJ9JgxUTybIe-pRpFzHfUpy9kvlakpbJpdMcv_ib7f3jnI/s1600/I+Love+Ewe.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 247px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAWtRS5NGu7rO53Ve3wFzWrYgnTcaS9Z82O975pRTjtEexo8jFcUUHjqyt-_wRbF641YNFT7h3qcMqFPJjPwvw8WHFK1Ea6FJ9JgxUTybIe-pRpFzHfUpy9kvlakpbJpdMcv_ib7f3jnI/s320/I+Love+Ewe.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572530813832603666" border="0" /></a>Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-6015339343207106122011-02-10T20:15:00.002-05:002011-02-14T08:20:19.205-05:00Mommy Crafts A....<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcqwjuuTik9PLSiabF0So_e9B9YqZe9rGDiJehaS8GDrZsP25newrw_mb5gbogTKAwpnCj8dh6-yHs-Xi3ACa54UIslCKxOy1_ord8s8WNn2DGGlPB026gu45DV-ccd8lQFxG5s_SnH7Y/s1600/Valentine%2527s+Tic+Tac+Toe+Game.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcqwjuuTik9PLSiabF0So_e9B9YqZe9rGDiJehaS8GDrZsP25newrw_mb5gbogTKAwpnCj8dh6-yHs-Xi3ACa54UIslCKxOy1_ord8s8WNn2DGGlPB026gu45DV-ccd8lQFxG5s_SnH7Y/s320/Valentine%2527s+Tic+Tac+Toe+Game.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573534438422648722" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size:130%;">Felt Valentine Tic Tac Toe Game</span><br /><br />Gracie loved this game that made for her this week. It was my first attempt at bean bags, and I have to say they came out pretty well. I used two different colored felts for the hearts and filled them with dry beans. I was going to sew a tic-tac-toe board, but with Gracie having the flu most of the week--time was seriously limited. So, I opted for a large piece of paper.<br /></div>Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7613600633120251564.post-67833257193727715092011-02-10T15:39:00.003-05:002011-02-11T15:53:39.603-05:00Love Bugs<div style="text-align: right;"><span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);">Toddler</span>*, <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Pre-K</span>, <span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 153);">K, <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">6+</span></span><br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVXPTxJ7ctyryYqOoo5gUYSOQCbqzD0R7Pp1x_0o5I-fSUvQvyZk_YtK_viVvZKaXQD_mP0qnXCn7mJY_Rn5bJs_SZGXHk2X-wi1PfEdHakFapnofwIHUXB3EBYLh6e5GKYfrO_BQv-0E/s1600/Love+Bugs.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVXPTxJ7ctyryYqOoo5gUYSOQCbqzD0R7Pp1x_0o5I-fSUvQvyZk_YtK_viVvZKaXQD_mP0qnXCn7mJY_Rn5bJs_SZGXHk2X-wi1PfEdHakFapnofwIHUXB3EBYLh6e5GKYfrO_BQv-0E/s320/Love+Bugs.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572537934864704482" border="0" /></a>***Note: I made mine with my toddler, but I did most of the work. My 6 year old needed a bot of help, but mostly did it alone.***<br /><br />I know this craft has been done before, but I put a new spin on it. :)<br /><br />To make this craft you will need:<br /><ul><li>Wooden clothespins</li><li>White Glue</li><li>Pom Pom's</li><li>Pipe Cleaners</li><li>Construction paper (optional)</li><li>Googly eyes (optional)</li><li>Magnet strips (optional)</li></ul>I got my pom poms and clothespins at the Dollar Store. My idea was to alternate between red and pink, but my daughter decided she wanted all sorts of colors. And, then I added in green for my son. So, really let your kids make their own love bugs.<br /><br />Four small pom poms will fit nicely on the clothespin, but I wanted my bugs to look "fuller" so I squeezed 5 on. If you want your kids to do this alone, tell them 4! You really have to squish and be patient with 5. Spread glue generously over the top of your clothes pin and add the pom poms one by one.<br /><br />When that dries you can cut a small portion of pipe cleaner and fold it into a "v" shape and glue in between pom poms 1 and 2.<br /><br />My bugs really need eyes, but I didn't have small googly eyes left, so the next time I head back to the Dollar Store I am going to pick some up and we will finish these little bugs off.<br /><br />I also added small construction paper hearts to the top of their antennae, and I used magnet strips and glued them to the bottom of the bugs so they could go on the fridge.<br /><br />These would make great gifts. They just need a note in their pins saying something like "you've been bitten by the love bug." That is still at thought of mine, but right now they are all happy together on the fridge (well, as happy as you can be without eyes :)Shipley Mommyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06473157755938561458noreply@blogger.com0
